Hip pain is an extremely common occurrence. For most people when they talk about their hip pain they indicate pain around the lower back and gluteal areas (your bottom in other words). This is often as much to do with the lower back as it is with the hip itself. True hip pain is more often around the front of the body in and around the groin region.

There are a multitude of reasons for developing hip pain and it can occur in young children right through to the elderly.

Your osteopath is skilled at diagnosing and treating most forms of mechanical hip pain but there may be times that referral to a specialist may be necessary. Some of the more common conditions we see in our clinic are:

  • Osteoarthritis of the hip

  • Bursitis

  • Radiculopathy

  • Sciatica

  • Tendinitis

  • Labral tears

  • Femoracetabular impingement

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Adductor strain

  • Snapping hip or ITB friction syndrome
