Why see an Osteopath?

Osteopathy is effective for most musculoskeletal pain and injury including: back pain, neck pain, sciatica, sports injuries, pain arising during and after pregnancy, disc problems, headaches, shoulder pain, repetitive strain injuries, knee pain and arthritis.

When you visit the osteopath a thorough medical history is taken and then a physical examination is performed which may include observation of posture and movement, range of motion testing, orthopaedic testing, and neurological testing. If required, we may request medical imaging such as an x-ray or MRI to aid in our diagnosis. Treatment often involves techniques that require soft tissue manipulation. This may require some clothing to be removed but we will provide a gown and use towels to cover you appropriately.

Treatment is one-on-one and your practitioner will have your undivided attention. An initial consultation is anywhere between 45min-1hr and we will discuss active rehabilitation exercises if they are required and any modification to life-style that may be necessary to assist in your recovery.

Subsequent consultations are often required where further treatment may be administered. Also, we can discuss your response to treatment, alter the treatment plan if necessary as well as answer any questions you may have.
